Electrocatalytical reduction of dinitrogen by fullerene´s C\dindex{60} derivatives in aqueous medium

Abstract:

Disertační práce je věnována stanovení reakčního mechanismu elektrokatalytické konverze plynného dusíku na amoniak (fixace dusíku) pomocí ve vodě rozpustného komplexu fullerenu a .-cyklodextrinu [C60-(.CD)2] za mírných podmínek atmosferického tlaku a teploty 60 oC. K detekci amoniaku jsou použity metody fotoakustické a UV-Vis spektroskopie. V další části je pozornost věnována přípravě stabilní vodné disperze fullerenu a dalším ve vodě rozpustným derivátům fullerenu. Fázově citlivou AC polarografií a voltametrií za stacionárních podmínek jsou stanoveny formální redoxní potenciály fullerenu, methanofullerenu, komplexu fulleren-.-cyklodextrin a methanofullerenových konjugátů s ß-cyklodextriny. Porovnáním formálních redoxních potenciálů těchto sloučenin a nekomplexovaného fullerenu lze určit komplexační (asociační) konstanty. Změna formálního redoxního potenciálu prvního redoxního kroku k negativním hodnotám potvrzuje, že existuje komplexace v methanofullerenových konjugátech s ß-cyklodextriny a zahrnuje inter-molekulární interakci host-hostitel monomerních molekul. K charakterizaci roztoků jsou použity metody: cyklická voltametrie, fázově citlivá AC polarografie, DC polarografie, elektrolýza, UV-Vis spektroskopie, Ramanova spektroskopie, ATR-FTIR spektroskopie, ESCA, MALDI MS, TOF SIMS, STM a AFM.

Abstract:

This thesis attended to determination of reaction mechanism of electrocatalytic conversion of dinitrogen to ammonia (nitrogen fixation) by water soluble complex of fullerene and ?Á-cyklodextrin [C60-(?ÁCD)2] at mild conditions (atmospheric pressure, 60 oC). Electrogenerated ammonia was detected by photoacoustic and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The second part was focused on the preparation of stable aqueous dispersion of fullerene (C60) and other fullerene derivatives soluble in water. Formal redox potentials of fullerene, methanofullerene, fullerene-?Á-cyklodextrine complex and methanofullerene conjugates with ?Ŕ-cyclodextrines were estimated by phase sensitive AC voltammetry and voltammetry of steady state current-voltage. Observed difference of formal redox potencials of the free fullerene forms and their cyclodextrin-containing compounds were used to determine the binding enhancement. A shift of the formal redox potencial of the first redox step towards the negative values confirmed that the complexation in methanofullerene conjugates with ?Ŕ-cyclodextrines indeed exist and it involves an inter-molecular host-guest interaction of monomeric molecules. Methods cyclic voltammetry, phase sensitive AC polarography, DC polarography, electrolysis, UV-Vis, Raman and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, ESCA, MALDI MS, TOF SIMS, STM and AFM technics have been used to the characterization of solutions.
