The Issue of transgender People in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou transgender lidí v České republice. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vysvětlení základních pojmů z oblasti transgender lidí, které jsou následně využívány v dalších kapitolách a pro hlubší pochopení procesu změny pohlaví. V teoretické části je taktéž popsán proces tranzice. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit teoretickou a pojmovou analýzu fenoménu změny pohlaví u transgender lidí, a na jejím podkladě realizovat výzkum, který se zabývá problematikou transgender lidí v České republice. Výzkum se zaměřuje na problematiku coming-outu, sebepojetí, Real Life Testu, pohlavní a sociální role a tranzice u transgender lidí v České republice. Práce zároveň upozorňuje na stále přetrvávající ustálené a striktní představy o tom, jak má žena a muž vypadat a jak se mají chovat. Zároveň předkládá k zamyšlení současnou situaci transgender lidí v ČR; co by se mělo zlepšit v přístupu k nim, a to nejen z hlediska psychologického, psychiatrického, chirurgického, ale i sociálního.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of transgender people in the Czech republic. Theoretical part of the thesis is focusing on explaining basic concepts from the area of transgender people issue, which are then used in subsequent chapters, and for deeper understanding of the gender reassignment process. In the theoretical part is also described the process of transition. The main goal of this thesis is to determine theoretical and conceptual analysis of the gender reassignment phenomenom amongst transgender people, and based on said analysis to realise research, which deals with the issue of transgender people in the Czech republic. The research focuses on the issues of coming-out, self-concept, Real Life Test, gender and social roles and transition in transgender people in the Czech Republic. The thesis also draws attention on the persistent and rather strict image of how should the ideal men and women look like and how they should behave. It also presents the current situation of transgender people in the Czech republic for reflection. What should be improved in the general approach to them, and not only from the psychological point of view, but also psychiatric, chirurgical and social.
