The main theme of the Bachelor thesis is to show the development of mortgages in the Slovak republic. This thesis is divided into two chapters – theoretic and practical. The first chapter is focused on defining main terms related to mortgage banking. It explains terms as mortgage, mortgage bond and mortgage bank. Hlavnou témou bakalárskej práce je poukázať na vývoj hypotekárnych úverov v Slovenskej republike. Práca je rozčlenená do dvoch častí a to na teoretickú a praktickú časť. Prvá kapitola je zameraná na definovanie hlavných pojmov súvisiacich s oblasťou hypotekárneho bankovníctva. Definuje pojmy ako hypotekárny úver, hypotekárny záložný list a hypotekárna banka.
