Discrimination of the mentally ill in the labor market

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje hloubkovému zkoumání problematiky diskriminace a stigmatizace osob s psychickými onemocněními na trhu práce. Cílem je podat systematický a komplexní pohled na to, jak jsou tyto osoby vnímány a jaké překážky čelí při hledání zaměstnání a udržení si pracovní pozice. V teoretické části je nejprve vytvořen pevný teoretický základ, který zahrnuje definice a klasifikace psychických onemocnění, podrobný popis mechanismů stigmatizace a diskriminace v pracovním prostředí, a přehled existujících právních a sociálních opatření zaměřených na ochranu a podporu těchto osob. Tato část také reflektuje současný stav výzkumu v dané oblasti a identifikuje klíčové faktory ovlivňující diskriminaci a stigmatizaci. V analytické části je prezentována metodologie a provedení vlastního empirického výzkumu, jehož cílem je prohloubit pochopení problematiky z praktického hlediska. Výzkum zahrnuje návrh a implementaci dotazníku, který je distribuován mezi široký okruh respondentů včetně osob s psychickými onemocněními. Data získaná z tohoto dotazníku jsou podrobena důkladné kvantitativní a kvalitativní analýze, jejímž výsledkem je detailní přehled faktorů přispívajících k diskriminaci a stigmatizaci v pracovním prostředí, a identifikace existujících mezer v ochraně a podpoře těchto osob. Závěrečná část práce je věnována formulaci doporučení pro zlepšení situace na trhu práce pro osoby s psychickými onemocněními. Tato doporučení jsou založena na výsledcích výzkumu a zahrnují návrhy na politické, legislativní a organizační změny, které by měly přispět k efektivnější prevenci diskriminace a stigmatizace. Diplomová práce tak přináší nový pohled na tuto problematiku a nabízí konkrétní kroky pro její řešení, s cílem vytvořit inkluzivnější a spravedlivější pracovní prostředí pro všechny.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to an in-depth examination of the issue of discrimination and stigmatization of persons with mental illnesses on the labor market. The aim is to provide a systematic and comprehensive view of how these persons are perceived and what obstacles they face in finding and maintaining a job. In the theoretical part, a solid theoretical basis is first created, which includes definitions and classifications of mental illnesses, a detailed description of the mechanisms of stigmatization and discrimination in the work environment, and an overview of existing legal and social measures aimed at the protection and support of these persons. This section also reflects on the current state of research in the area and identifies key factors influencing discrimination and stigmatization. In the analytical part, the methodology and implementation of the own empirical research is presented, the aim of which is to deepen the understanding of the issue from a practical point of view. The research involves the design and implementation of a questionnaire that is distributed to a wide range of respondents including people with mental illness. The data obtained from this questionnaire is subjected to a thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis, the result of which is a detailed overview of the factors contributing to discrimination and stigmatization in the work environment, and the identification of existing gaps in the protection and support of these persons. The final part of the work is devoted to the formulation of recommendations for improving the situation on the labor market for persons with mental illnesses. These recommendations are based on research results and include suggestions for political, legislative and organizational changes that should contribute to more effective prevention of discrimination and stigmatization. The diploma thesis thus brings a new perspective on this issue and offers concrete steps for solving it, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and fair working environment for everyone.
