Motivation of humanitarian workers to help in foreign missions in affected areas by the crisis

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá motivací humanitárních pracovníků na odjezd na zahraniční misi. Teoretická část vymezuje motivaci jako pojem, některé teorie motivace relevantní k cíli práce, členění motivů a hodnot. Součástí teoretické části je i vymezení humanitární práce se zaměřením na lidské zdroje. Nejprve jsou popsány základní principy humanitární práce, specifika humanitární práce, dále zmiňuje některé motivace humanitárních pracovníků, výběr pracovníků na zahraniční mise a konečně jejich přípravu na tyto mise. Závěr této části je věnován popisu zahraničních misí a krizových oblastí. Stěžejní částí práce je kvalitativní výzkum. Data jsou získána z polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s humanitárními pracovníky. V závěru práce je zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka a jsou zde předloženy podněty k dalším výzkumům.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the motivation of the humanitarian workers to leave for a foreign mission. The theoretical part defines motivation as a concept, some theories of motivation as it is relevant to the goal of the work, structuring of the motives and values. The definition of the humanitarian work is a part of the theoretical segment as well. It is focused on human resources. First the basic principles of the humanitarian work are being described, its specifics and later some motivations of the humanitarian workers, selection of the workers for the missions abroad and finally their preparation for those missions. The conclusion of that part deals with the demonstration of the foreign missions and the areas affected by a crisis. The central part of the work is a qualitative research. The data was gained from the half-structured dialogues with humanitarian workers. In the conclusion of the thesis the main question of the research is answered and there are offered suggestions for further research.
