War with Jugurtha and War with Germans - Comparison of Novel Version Written by Colleen McCullough and with Contemporary Sources
Abstract:
Autor práce srovnává a ověřuje románový popis válek s Jugurthou a s Germány, sepsaný v románovém díle australské autorky Colleen McCulloughové První muž Říma, s řeckými a římskými prameny, konkrétně se Sallustiem, Liviem, Plútarchem a zmínkami u Plinia staršího. Autor odpovídá na otázku do jaké míry se dílo McCulloughové drží historických pramenů.
Abstract:
Author of this work compares and checks the novelistic depiction of wars with Jugurtha and with Germans written in novel of australian author Collen McCullough The First Man in Rome, with greek and roman contemporary sources like Sallust, Livy, Plutarch and short notes in Pliny the Elder. Author answers the question how much does the work of McCullough follows the historical sources.
