Abstract:

This thesis explores the transformative impact of financial technologies (fintech) on emerging economies, with a particular focus on the role of digital payments, mobile banking, and online lending in reshaping financial landscapes. The study aims to analyze how fintech adoption influences economic development, financial inclusion, and transaction efficiency. A quantitative research approach is employed, utilizing key economic indicators such as GDP growth, the percentage of unbanked populations gaining financial access, transaction volumes in digital financial services, and the penetration of fintech solutions in various sectors. By analyzing empirical data, this research seeks to quantify fintech’s role in fostering financial stability and economic expansion. To provide a practical perspective, this thesis includes case studies on Egypt and two other emerging markets, evaluating their unique fintech ecosystems, policy environments, and adoption trends. These case studies highlight successful fintech implementations, challenges encountered, and lessons that can be applied to other developing nations. Furthermore, this study delves into the challenges and risks associated with fintech adoption in emerging economies. These include regulatory barriers, cybersecurity threats, consumer protection concerns, and issues related to data privacy. By examining the regulatory frameworks governing fintech operations, this research identifies gaps in policy and offers recommendations for fostering a secure and inclusive fintech environment. Ultimately, this thesis aims to contribute to the broader understanding of fintech’s economic impact, identifying both the opportunities and risks that come with digital financial transformation. The findings will provide insights for policymakers, financial institutions, and fintech entrepreneurs seeking to leverage technology for sustainable economic growth in developing regions.
