Aquatic bugs and beetles in habitats of field wetlands

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the communities of water bugs (Heteroptera) and beetles (Coleoptera) in ephemeral field wetlands. The literature search part characterizes temporary waters as habitats for aquatic invertebrates. It describes communities of water bugs and beetles in temporary waters, basic strategies of survival and dispersion in these habitats, ecological factors influencing communities of water bugs and beetles, especially environmental variables and biotic interactions with other organisms and with each other. The thesis also includes the results of field research of field wetlands in southern Moravia, which provide the first more comprehensive information about the communities of water bugs and beetles in these habitats. It evaluates the species composition of their communities in the monitored localities, their succession and the influence of environmental variables on them. In field wetlands, 26 species of water bugs from 6 families and 57 species of water beetles from 7 families were found. It was observed that the numbers of species and the abundances of adult water bugs and beetles were changing differently during the succession compared to their nymphs and larvae. Of the environmental variables, communities were affected by water conductivity, water depth, dissolved oxygen and turbidity. The effect of large branchiopods has not been proven. Consideration is also given to specialized and endangered species inhabiting field wetlands, which are an important refuges for them. Altogether 26 specialized species were found, including the species Anisops sardeus (Heteroptera), for which it is the first record, and Eretes sticticus (Coleoptera), for which it is the second record for the Czech Republic. Also 17 species from the Red List of Endangered Species of the Czech Republic were found in the monitored wetlands, among them 3 critically endangered: Corixa affinis (Heteroptera), Ochthebius lividipennis and Ochthebius meridionalis (Coleoptera).

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá spoločenstvami vodných bzdôch (Heteroptera) a chrobákov (Coleoptera) v poľných mokradiach. Rešeršná časť charakterizuje periodické vody ako biotopy pro vodné bezstavovce. Popisuje spoločenstvá vodných ploštíc a chrobákov v periodických vodách, základné stratégie prežívania a disperzie v týchto biotopoch, ekologické faktory ovplyvňujúce spoločenstvá vodných bzdôch a chrobákov, najmä premenné prostredia a biotické interakcie s ostatnými organizmami aj medzi sebou. Práca zahŕňa tiež výsledky terénneho výzkumu poľných mokradí na južnej Morave, ktoré prinášajú prvé ucelenejšie informácie o spoločenstvách vodných bzdôch a chrobákov v týchto biotopoch. Vyhodnocuje druhové zloženie spoločenstiev vodných bzdôch a chrobákov na sledovaných lokalitách, ich sukcesiu a vplyv premenných prostredia na ne. V poľných mokradiach bolo zistených 26 druhov vodných bzdôch zo 6 čeľadí a 57 druhov vodných chrobákov zo 7 čeľadí. Bolo pozorované, že počty druhov a abundancie vodných bzdôch a chrobákov sa počas sukcesie menili rozdielne u imág v porovnaní s nymfami a larvami. Z premenných prostredia mali na spoločenstvá vplyv konduktivita vody, hĺbka vodného telesa, obsah rozpusteného kyslíka a zákal vody. Vplyv veľkých lupeňonohých kôrovcov nebol preukázaný. Pozornosť je venovaná aj špecializovaným a ohrozeným druhom osídľujúcim poľné mokrade, ktoré sú pro ne významným refugiom. Na lokalitách bolo zistených 26 špecializovaných druhov, medzi nimi aj chrbtoplávka Anisops sardeus (Heteroptera), u ktorej ide o prvý nález a potápnik Eretes sticticus (Coleoptera), u ktorého ide o druhý nález pre Českú republiku. V sledovaných mokradiach bolo zachytených aj 17 druhov z Červeného zoznamu ohrozených druhov Českej republiky, medzi nimi 3 kriticky ohrozené: Corixa affinis (Heteroptera), Ochthebius lividipennis a Ochthebius meridionalis (Coleoptera).
