Gender specifics in current German

Abstract:

The focus of this paper are the gender based differences in naming and describing people in the present-day German. Theoretical part of this paper is dedicated to the clarifying of the essential terms of the feminist linguistics, uncovering the development of the said field of study and at last to the explaining of the key points of the criticism of the German language and the way it is being used. Practical part of this paper focuses mainly on chosen German journals (both broadsheet and tabloid: Die Zeit, Die Welt, Bild), which follow the naming and describing of the people who are part of the current german as well as international political stage.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá analýzou genderových odlišností v pojmenování a popisu osob v současné němčině. V teoretické části této práce je čtenář seznámen se základními termíny feministické lingvistiky, vývojem dané problematiky a stěžejními body kritiky gramatiky německého jazyka a způsobu, jakým je používán. Praktická část se poté orientuje na vybraná německá periodika (seriózní i bulvární tisk: Die Zeit, Die Welt, Bild), ve kterých jsou sledována pojmenování a popis osob pohybujících se v rámci aktuální politické scény, jak německé, tak i zahraniční.
