Marshall-Lerner condition in the Czech Republic

Anotace:

Cílem této práce je ověřit platnost Marshall-Lernerovy podmínky v České republice. Zabývá se teorií Marshall-Lerneroy podmínky, následně praktickým vyjádřením Marshall-Lernerovy podmínky v podobě teorie platební bilance. Poté se věnuje blíže struktuře zahraničního obchodu České republiky a obchodní bilanci s hlavními obchodními partnery ČR. Druhá část práce obsahuje ekonometrickou analýzu, pomocí níž se odhadují elasticity křivek zahraničního obchodu a testuje platnost Marshall-Lernerovy podmínky pro český zahraniční obchod, nejdříve podle hlavních obchodních partnerů a následně i podle skupin výrobků.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to test the Marshall-Lerner condition in the Czech Republic. Firstly is discussed the theory of Marshall-Lerner condition then follows a practical expression of the Marshall-Lerner condition by using the balance of payment theory. It focuses on the structure of czech foreign trade and the balance of trade with czech main trading partners. The second part of the thesis contains an cointegration econometric analysis which is used for estimation of the elasticities of foreign trade functions and also for testing the Marshall-Lerner condition of czech foreign trade, firstly by major trading partners and then by product groups.
