Plato's Dialogue Cratylus in the Light of Modern Linguistics
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá primárně analýzou etymologií uvedených v Sókratové dialogu Kratylos a uvádí statistiku jejich úspěšnosti ve srovnání s moderní etymologií. Krom toho věnuje krátkou část uvedení dialogu do kontextu sofistiky a také srovnává Sókratovy myšlenky týkající se fonosémantiky s moderními lingvistickými poznatky.
Abstract:
This Bachelor's Thesis deals primarily with the analysis of the etymologies present in Plato's dialogue Cratylus and presents a statistic of their success rate in comparison with modern etymology. It also contains a brief section that places the dialogue in the context of sophistic thought and compares Socrates' ideas on phonosemantics with modern lingustic findings.
