Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá zobrazením politických kampaní v médiích ve Spojeném království. Zaměřuje se konkrétně na britské všeobecné volby z let 2010 a 2015, referendum o nezávislosti Skotska z roku 2014 a hlavně na referendum o členství Spojeného království v Evropské unii z roku 2016. K účelům této práce byly použity články z britských novin a časopisů. Dále je též zohledněna role sociálních médií a firmy Cambridge Analytica. Cílem je zjistit, jak mediální pokrytí ovlivnilo výsledek referenda o Brexitu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the portrayal of political campaigns in the media in the United Kingdom. The work is focused on the UK General Elections of 2010 and 2015, the Scottish independence referendum of 2014, and most importantly, the Brexit referendum of 2016. For the purpose of this work, selected newspaper and magazine articles were used. Further, the role of social media and Cambridge Analytica is discussed as well. The aim of this thesis is to find out how media coverage influenced the outcome of the Brexit referendum.
