An Attempt to Incorporate the Exhibition "Great October-Inspirator of Art" to the Context of Cultural and Social Ideology of Socialist Realism in the Second Half of fifties in the 20. Century

Abstract:

Práce se pokouší zasadit výstavu „Velký říjen, inspirátor umění“ do kontextu doktríny socialistického realismu a situace v kulturní politice v druhé polovině 50. let 20. století. Na základě práce s především dobovou primární i sekundární literaturou je podán pohled na tehdejší kulturně politickou situaci, ale také náhled na kulturní dění v Brně, kde se zmíněná výstava v listopadu roku 1957 odehrála. V části věnované samotné výstavě je podán přehled o vystavených umělcích a exponátech, které jsou podkladem pro další, širší interpretace. Výstava „Velký říjen, inspirátor umění“ měla být výstavou československého umění inspirovaného událostmi v SSSR v listopadu roku 1917. Protože byla ovšem pocta této události uskutečněna prostřednictvím vystavení spíše sociálního umění a děl moderny, nikoliv prostřednictvím umění socialistického realismu, lze výstavu považovat za určitý odklon od oficiální linie. Po zasazení do kontextu dobové kulturní politiky a kulturního života Brna, který výstava svým částečně regionálním charakterem dokládá, zjišťujeme, že výstava v podstatě dokládá trend postupného uvolňování, který pomalu začal po roce 1956.

Abstract:

The work is trying to incorporate the exhibition „Great October, inspirator of art“ to the context of doctrine of socialist realism and situation in cultural politics in second half of fifties in 20. century. The view of contemporary situation in cultural politics and the situation in contemporary Brno, where the exhibition took place in November 1957, is based on the work with primary and secondary literature and sources. The survey of exhibits and artists, which is basis to the following interpretations, is situated in the part of the work devoted to the exhibition itself. The exhibition „Grand October, inspirator of art“ should have been the exhibition of Czechoslovakian art inspired by the events in USSR in November 1917. But the exhibition contained mostly exhibits of Czech social and modern art, not the art of socialist realism, so we can consider this event as certain deflection from oficial line. After setting in context of cultural politics and situation in Brno, we can found that exhibition supports the idea of release in socialist society, which slowly started in 1956.
