A general study of dental hygiene in patients with implants

Abstract:

The topic of my bachelor thesis is the cooperation of a dental hygienist with a dentist in the field of implantology and the aspect of dental hygiene in patients with implants. This thesis is divided into two sections- theoretical and empirical. In the introduction of the theoretical section, a brief description and the division of implant types as well as advantages and indications for particular patients are given. In the following chapters the attention is focused on the subject of dental hygiene in patients with implants with a special highlight on its importance for bone integration but also for correct technique and tools used for cleaning the implants by the professional and the patient himself. Furthermore it points to complications in dental implantology that arise from insufficient oral cavity care, such as perimucositis and periimplantitis. Methodology, overall research implementation and data evaluation are formulated in the empirical section of the thesis. The research is aimed at patients’ education about dental implant care along with appropriate cleaning technique and the use of tools. Adequate oral hygiene was checked using the PBI index during the patients dental hygiene visit. After collecting all necessary data, in the summary the cases of patients including their before and after implantation x-rays are presented.

Abstract:

Témou bakalárskej práce je spolupráca dentálnej hygieničky so zubný lekárom v oblasti implantológie a problematika ústnej hygieny u pacientov s implantátmi, ktorá je rozdelená do dvoch častí, teoretickej a empirickej.V úvode teoretickej časti ide v krátkosti o charakteristiku a rozdelenie typov implantátov, výhodách a indikáciách u jednotlivých pacientov. V nasledujúcich kapitolách sa sústreďuje pozornosť na problematiku ústnej hygieny u pacientov s implantátmi s dôrazom na jej dôležitosť pre úspešnosť prijatia implantátu, ale aj na správnu techniku a pomôcky pri čistení implantátov zo strany odborníka i pacienta. V neposlednom rade poukazuje na komplikácie v dentálnej implantológii vyplývajúce z nedostatočnej starostlivosti o ústnu dutinu, a to perimukositídu a periimplantitídu. Metodika, realizácia výskumu a vyhodnotenie je spracovaná v empirickej časti práce. Výskum je zameraný na informovanosť pacienta o starostlivosť o zubné implantáty ako je technika čistenia zubov, používanie správnych pomôcok. Taktiež či pacienti dodržujú adekvátnu ústnu hygienu pomocou indexov PBI , ktoré bolo zhotovené pri prvej návšteve u dentálnej hygieničky. Po zozbieraní potrebných údajov v závere autor uvádza kazuistiky pacientov doplnené o panoramatický snímok pred a po implantácii.
