Inés y la alegría by Almudena Grandes: Women and History in the Spanish Civil War and Post-war Era

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the role of women during the Spanish Civil War and in the post-war period, based on the experiences in the Civil War and in the invasion of the Arán Valley in October 1944, as told in the historical novel Inés y la alegría by the Spanish writer Almudena Grandes (1960-2021). In the commentary we will focus on the female protagonist of the novel in contrast to the period, as well as the representation of the role of feelings in the historical events and the power relations between the characters. An important aspect of this work is the gender perspective deployed by the writer.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je analyzovať postavenie ženy počas španielskej občianskej vojny a v povojnovom období na základe skúseností s občianskou vojnou a inváziou v údolí Arán v októbri 1944, ktoré popisuje historický román Inés y la alegría od španielskej spisovateľky Almudeny Grandes (1960-2021). V analýze sa zameriavame na hlavnú ženskú postavu románu v kontraste s daným obdobím, a zároveň na to, akú úlohu zohrávajú emócie v živote historických postáv. Súčasne upriamujeme pozornosť na prejavy sily a moci v ich vzťahoch. Dôležitým aspektom tejto práce je aj rodová perspektíva, ktorú autorka románu predostiera.
