The music business phenomenon of musical theatre after year 1989

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce shrnuje základní fakta při uvádění licencovaných muzikálů na území České republiky. V teoretické části definuje pojem muzikál, jeho stručnou historii a autorské právo v souvislosti s muzikálovým žánrem. V praktické části se zaměřuje na muzikálovou produkci vybraného vzorku divadel ČR v období od roku 2005–2020, na které jsou nejen ukázány rozdíly v dotovaných a soukromých divadlech, ale i z jakých zahraničních oblastí česká divadla tituly čerpají. Výzkumná část práce porovnává dva zahraniční muzikály uvedené v České republice z hlediska licenčních podmínek a divácké úspěšnosti.

Abstract:

The Bachelor’s thesis summarises the basic facts in the presentation of licensed musicals in the Czech Republic. The theoretical section defines the term 'musical theatre', its brief history, and copyright in connection with this genre. The practical part focuses on the musical production of a selected sample of theatres in the Czech Republic between 2005 and 2020. This not only shows the differences in the production of subsidised and private theatres but also from which foreign countries Czech theatres draw titles. The research section of the thesis compares two foreign musicals listed in the Czech Republic in terms of licensing conditions and audience success.
