Comparison of value orientation and interactional styles of teachers at standard and church high schools

Abstract:

Církevní školství je jednou z mnoha neprobádaných oblastí na poli pedagogické psychologie. Výzkumů zabývajících se problematikou těchto škol je minimum, přitom jejich vliv je nezanedbatelný. Hlavním cílem práce byl průzkum hodnotových orientací a interakčních stylů učitelů ze standardních a církevních gymnázií. V rámci kvantitativního šetření byla použita metoda sběru dat ve formě dotazníků. Použit byl Schwartzův průzkum hodnot PVQ-21 a Dotazník interakčních stylů QTI, konkrétně verze pro učitele. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 126 učitelů vyučujících na vyšším stupni gymnázia. Jednalo se o 64 učitelů ze standardních gymnázií (50,8 %) a 62 učitelů z gymnázií církevních (49,2 %). Důležitými proměnnými byly také pohlaví a délka praxe. V hodnotové orientaci se ukázal významný rozdíl v závislosti na typu školy a pohlaví. Učitelé mužského pohlaví ze standardních škol byli orientováni významně více na společenskou prestiž a úspěch než zbylý vzorek učitelů. V interakčním stylu se neprokázala žádná odlišnost v závislosti na typu školy. Ukázalo se, že hodnotová orientace a interakční styl spolu mohou navzájem souviset. Mezi těmito proměnnými bylo nalezeno několik nepříliš těsných až středně těsných korelací.

Abstract:

Church education is one of the many unexplored areas in the field of educational psychology. There is a minimum of research dealing with the issues of these schools, while their influence is negligible. The main goal of this work was the research of value orientations and interaction styles of teachers from standard and church high schools. As part of the quantitative investigation, the method of data collection in the form of questionnaires was used. The PVQ-21 Schwartz Values Survey and the QTI Interaction Styles Questionnaire, specifically the teacher version, were used. The research group consisted of 126 teachers teaching at the upper level of the high school. There were 64 teachers from standard high schools (50,8%) and 62 teachers from church high schools (49,2%). Gender and length of practice were also important variables. A significant difference in value orientation was shown depending on the type of school and gender. Male teachers from standard schools were significantly more oriented towards social prestige and success than the remaining sample of teachers. There was no difference in interaction style depending on the type of school. It has been shown that value orientation and interaction style can be related to each other. Several not very close to moderately close correlations were found between these variables.
