Kamill Resler, the Jurist and the Bibliophil

Abstract:

Snahou této bakalářské práce je upozornit na pestrý život a dílo významného českého právníka a bibliofila Kamilla Reslera (1893–1961), který výrazně ovlivňoval pražský kulturní svět 20. až 50. let 20. století. Především na základě archivního studia v Literárním archivu Památníku národního písemnictví a Národním muzeu (Knihovna Národního muzea – nakladatelské a archivní fondy, Archiv Národního muzea) se práce pokouší celkově rekonstruovat jednotlivé etapy života Kamilla Reslera, tj. jeho dětská a studentská léta (včetně kontaktů s českými anarchisty), advokátní činnost (obhajoba českých umělců, obhajoba K. H. Franka a členů protektorátní vlády po roce 1945), zapojení do českého bibliofilského světa, spisovatelská a vydavatelská činnost (soukromé bibliofilské tisky), sběratelství a nelehký závěr života.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to highlight the varied life and work of an important Czech jurist and bibliophile Kamill Resler (1893–1961) who had a significant influence on the cultural life of Prague in 1920`s –1950`s. Based particularly on archival research in the Literary archive of the Museum of Czech Literature and in the National Museum (The National Museum Library – publishing houses` collections and archival collections, the National Museum Archive) the work attempts to comprehensively reconstruct the run of Kamill Resler`s life, i. e. his childhood and student years (including contacts with Czech anarchists), his activity as an attorney at law (defense of Czech artists, defense of K. H. Frank and of members of the protectorate government after 1945), his involvement in the Czech bibliophiles` world, writing and publishing (private Bibliophile Publications), activity, collecting and difficult end of his life.
