Prof. RNDr. Jan Jelínek, DrSc. je neodmyslitelně spjat s Moravským zemským muzeem. Přičinil se o výstavbu nového pavilonu Anthropos v Pisárkách,ve funkci ředitele změnil strukturu a celkovou koncepci muzea, prosadil založení brněnské katedry muzeologie, zúčastnil se několika zahraničních expedicí, po dvě funkční období byl prezidentem ICOM, přednášel na několika vysokých školách atd. Prof. RNDr. Jan Jelínek, Dr Sc. has strong links with the Moravian Museum (Moravské zemské muzeum).
