Demographic aging in the Czech Republic and its influence on future economic and social development

Abstract:

Tématem mé diplomové práce je demografické stárnutí v České republice a jeho vliv na ekonomický a sociální vývoj. V první části práce uvádím základní demografické ukazatele spojené se stárnutím a jejich vliv na stárnutí společnosti. Druhá část je zaměřena na analýzu demografického stárnutí v krajích - na úmrtnost, porodnost a migraci. Dále jsou kraje porovnány na základě věkového složení, indexu stáří a průměrného věku. Analýzou demografické situace v krajích bylo zjištěno, že nejstarším krajem je Praha, nejmladším krajem je Ústecký kraj. Zvláštní postavení má Praha a Středočeský kraj, kde je stárnutí výrazně ovlivněno imigrací. Třetí část se zabývá dopadem demografického stárnutí na ekonomický a sociální vývoj. Demografické stárnutí má největší dopad na důchodový systém a zdravotnictví. Mění se potřeby v bydlení, v péči o seniory, roste počet samostatně žijících osob. Převládá spíše negativní postavení starších osob ve společnosti, často spojené s jejich diskriminací, zejména na trhu práce.

Abstract:

The topic of my thesis is demographic aging in the Czech Republic and its influence on economic and social development. In the first part, I indicate the basic demographic characteristics associated with aging and their influence on an aging society. The second part is focuses on the analysis of demographic aging in the regions - on mortality, natality and migration. Further, the regions are compared by age distribution, age preference rate and mean age. By analysis of the demographic situation in the regions was found that the oldest region is Prague, the youngest region is the Usti Region. Special positions have Prague and the Central Bohemia Region, where aging is strongly influenced by immigration. The third part deals with the impact of demographic aging on economic and social development. Demographic aging has the greatest impact on the pension system and health care. There are changing needs for housing, care for seniors and the growing number of people living alone. There is a prevalence of an unfavourable position for older persons in society, which is often associated with discrimination, especially in the labour market.
