Tato bakalářská práce popisuje události, které předcházely vyhlášení nezávislosti Indie. Jejím cílem je popsat a zhodnotit roli, kterou v boji za nezávislost Indie sehrál M.K.Gándhí. Práce se stručně zabývá historií britské kolonizace, ve zkratce mapuje Gándhího aktivity před vstupem na indickou politickou scénu.
