Application of ESG principles in the Czech banking sector

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá aplikací ESG principů v českém bankovním sektoru. Cílem této práce je seznámení s pojmem ESG a jeho samotná aplikace v bankovním sektoru se zaměřením na výpočet financovaných emisí poskytovaných bankovních produktů a služeb. V první části se práce zabývá definicí ESG s jeho jednotlivými složkami, taxonomii EU a dohodami přijatými v rámci environmentálních problémů. Dále je zde popsán přístup bank k řízení ESG se zaměřením na aktuální přístup bank v ČR. Značná část bakalářské práce se zabývá měřením uhlíkové stopy ve společností s definicí jednotlivých rozsahů emisí. Poslední část práce se zaměřuje na měření uhlíkové stopy v bankovních institucích, zejména se zaměřením na výpočet financovaných emisí bankami v rozsahu 3 downstream emisí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the application of ESG principles in the Czech banking sector. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the concept of ESG and its actual application in the banking sector, focusing on the calculation of financed emissions of banking products and services. The first part of the thesis deals with the definition of ESG with its individual components, the EU taxonomy and agreements adopted in the framework of environmental issues. Furthermore, the approach of banks to ESG management is described with a focus on the current approach of banks in the Czech Republic. A significant part of the bachelor thesis deals with the measurement of the carbon footprint in companies with the definition of individual scopes of emissions. The last part of the thesis focuses on carbon footprint measurement in banking institutions, with a particular focus on the calculation of bank-financed scope 3 downstream emissions.
