Anarchism as an Organisation of Freedom: the Influence of Cybernetics and the Organisational Strategies of Anarchists in Cyberspace

Abstract:

In this work, we present anarchism as an organization of spontaneous order, based on the principles of mutual assistance, absence of hierarchy, direct action, but also relatively newer ones concepts such as prefiguration, self-organization, DIY or culture security. We will also examine anarchism from the perspective of cybernetics, and these concepts find a connection in self-organization. Based on Stafford Beer's cybernetic model of a viable system, we present its hypothetical anarchist variant, which can serve to better understand the organization of the movement, its various functions and thus prevent communication failure. In the last part of the work we focus on the transition of movements from offline protest camps to the online world, how digital activism has changed participation and elements of the organization in protests. At the end of the work we will describe alternative media as a place used by anarchists for internal communication and organization in groups.

Abstract:

V tejto práci predstavíme anarchizmus ako organizáciu spontánneho poriadku, založenú na princípoch vzájomnej pomoci, absencie hierarchie, priamej akcie, ale aj relatívne novších pojmov ako prefigurácia, samoorganizácia, DIY či kultúra bezpečnosti. Anarchizmus budeme skúmať aj z pohľadu kybernetiky, pričom tieto pojmy nachádzajú prepojenie v samoorganizácii. Na základe kybernetického modelu životaschopného systému od Stafforda Beera predstavíme jeho hypotetickú anarchistickú variantu, ktorá môže slúžiť pre lepšie pochopenie organizácie hnutí, jej jednotlivých funkcií a zabrániť tak zlyhaniu komunikácie. V poslednej časti práce sa zameriavame na prechod hnutí z offline protestných táborov do online sveta a to ako digitálny aktivizmus zmenil participáciu a prvky organizácie v protestoch. V závere práce popíšeme alternatívne médiá ako miesto využívané anarchistami na internú komunikáciu a organizáciu v skupinách.
