Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the foundation of London parks in the Victorian era and circumstances which were decisive for their establishment. Attention is also paid to eminent landscape designers and architects who, by their original layouts of London parks, influenced future generations of landscape designers. Further task is to describe the social life in London parks, whose concept was changing during the Victorian era as the status of social classes was changing as well. The thesis also concentrates on the comparison of the use of London parks in the Victorian period with their current use regarding the conservation of biodiversity and protection of the environment.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zakládáním londýnských parků ve viktoriánském období a okolnostmi, které byly rozhodující pro jejich vznik. Dále se věnuje předním osobnostem zahradního designu a architektury, které svými originálními návrhy londýnských parků ovlivnily budoucí generace zahradních architektů. Úkolem práce je také popsat společenský život v londýnských parcích, jehož pojetí se v průběhu viktoriánského období měnilo tak, jak se měnilo postavení jednotlivých společenských tříd. Práce se také zaměřuje na porovnání využití londýnských parků ve viktoriánském období a jejich využití v současnosti s ohledem na ochranu životního prostředí a zachování biodiversity.
