The Luminescence Studies of Ice Impurities - Concentration Studies

Abstract:

V této práci je studována distribuce molekul nečistot na povrchu ledu. V průběhu procesu mražení dochází ke zvýšení koncentrace nečistot v povrchové vrstvě ledu. Ačkoli je tento fenomén dobře znám, rozložení těchto nečistot doposud nebylo příliš studováno. V této práci chceme zodpovědět, jestli je povrchové rozložení nečistot rovnoměrné, nebo nerovnoměrné a dochází ke vzniku takzvaných “rybníčků” molekul nečistot. Měření byla provedena v ledu při – 197 °C a při – 30 °C kde ještě můžeme počítat s přítomností quasi–likvidní vrstvy na povrchu ledu. Jako prostředek pro měření byl použit přenos energie, který pomáhá ke zjištění vzájemných interakcí molekul. Jako donor při přenosu energie sloužil biacetyl, a akceptorem byl zvolen EuCl3.6H20. Výsledky jsou vyhodnoceny pomocí Stern- Volmerovy analýzy a závěry jsou formulovány na základě zjištění v této práce.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is the study of the molecular distribution of impurities on the surface of ice. In this study we examined whether the distribution of these impurities is non-homogenous or homogenous. It is known that during the freezing process, impurities migrate to the surface layer of ice. Although this phenomenon is widely accepted, the distribution of these impurities was still unknown. To answer this, measurements were taken in ice at both – 197 °C and at – 30 °C where the quasi- liquid layer is still present on ice surface. Here, by applying energy transfer studies, the interactions between these molecules become determinable. For the energy transfer, biacetyl was chosen as the donor molecule and EuCl3.6H20 as the acceptor. Results were evaluated using Stern – Volmer analysis and conclusions were made based on findings in this work.
