Abstract:

Složení představenstev společností může zásadním způsobem ovlivňovat jejich výstupy. Pokud budou představenstva sestavena vhodným způsobem, můžeme zlepšit proces jejich fungování a tím ovlivnit finanční výsledky podniku. Práce se zabývá věkovou a genderovou diverzitou členů představenstev v českých akciových společnostech ze zpracovatelského průmyslu, které mají zahraničního vlastníka ze zemí Evropské unie. Celkem se podařilo identifikovat 4 skupiny podniků – s jedním členem boardu; s vice členy boardu – věkově i genderově homogenní boardy, vysoce věkově, ale málo genderově heterogenní boardy; vysoce genderově i věkově heterogenní boardy. Nejlepší finanční výsledky vykazovala skupina podniků s vice členy boardu a vysokou věkovou i genderovou diverzitou. Podařilo se nám identifikovat statisticky významný vztah mezi genderovou diverzitou v roce 2012 a finanční výkonností v roce 2015. Což dokazuje existenci tříletého zpoždění mezi Ukázalo se, že existuje tříleté zpoždění dopadu diverzity na finanční výkonnost.

Abstract:

The composition of the boards of companies can significantly influence their output. If the boards are set up in an appropriate way, we can improve the process of their operation and thus influence the financial results of the company. This thesis deals with age and gender diversity of board members in Czech joint-stock companies from the manufacturing industry, which have foreign owners from European Union countries. Altogether four groups of companies were identified - with one board member; with multiple board members - age and gender homogeneous boards, high age but low gender heterogeneous boards; high gender as well as age heterogeneous boards. The group of companies with more board members and higher age and gender diversity showed the best financial results. We could find a statistically significant relationship between gender diversity in 2012 and financial performance in 2015. This suggests that three years delay exists when discussing the impacts of gender diversity among board members on the financial performance of the company.
