Implementation of a Business Intelligence solution for a trading company

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce je navrhnout a implementovat Business Intelligence řešení pro obchodní společnost. Jedná se o řešení pro sledování počtu objednaných kusů produktů napříč celou divizí obchodní společnosti. Zároveň je jedním z dílčích cílů práce analýza stavu společnosti a identifikace jejích problémů. Dalším cílem byla také specifikace a zhodnocení dostupných datových zdrojů. V práci jsou nejprve v rámci analýzy stavu společnosti určeny konkrétní problémy obchodní společnosti. Navrhované řešení následně z těchto problémů vychází a má za cíl je vyřešit. Dále jsou v práci popsány datové zdroje a jejich specifika. Z této analýzy datových zdrojů následně vychází konkrétní vybrané datové zdroje, které budou v navrhovaném řešení využívány. V poslední části práce je samotná realizace navrhovaného řešení. V rámci realizace je popsán sběr dat, transformace dat, popis metrik v aplikaci Power BI a samotné výsledné dashboardy. Hlavním přínosem práce je zvýšení prodejů obchodní společnosti, ušetření času zaměstnancům a poskytnutí jednoho standardizovaného pohledu na data.

Abstract:

The main goal of this thesis is to design and implement a Business Intelligence solution for a trading company. This is a solution for tracking numbers of ordered products across one division of the trading company. Together is one of the partial goals of the thesis analysis of the state of the company and identification of its problems. Another goal is the specification and assessment of available data sources. In the thesis, specific problems of the trading company are first identified as a part of the analysis of the company. The proposed solution is subsequently based on these problems and aims to solve them. Furthermore, data sources and their specifics are described in the thesis. This analysis results in specific selected data sources which will be used in the proposed solution. In the last part of the thesis, there is the realization of the proposed solution. The implementation describes the data gathering, the description of metrics in Power BI, and the dashboards. The main benefits of the thesis are to increase the sales of the trading company, save time for the employees, and provide one standardized view of the data.
