Specifics of the Political System of the Channel Islands

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce ?Specifika politického systému Normanských ostrovů? se zabývá postavením Normanských ostrovů Jersey a Guernsey. Tyto ostrovy mají širokou autonomii, jsou pod správou Spojeného království, které se již od 13. století zavazuje vojensky chránit Normanské ostrovy a nemá právo za ně rozhodovat na mezinárodní úrovni. Nejdříve jsem zpracovala základní informace o geografii, demografii a ekonomice, včetně důležité role offshore finančních center. Historie měla velký vliv na vývoj ostrovů, proto jsem se zaměřila na její průběh a důležité období, jako byla vláda Tudorovců a Nacistická okupace. Následující kapitola se věnuje politickému postavení, nezávislosti, která umožňuje ostrovům tvořit vlastní zákony, vykonávat vládní a právní moc. Panovník Spojeného království volí své zástupce, guvernéry, kteří stojí v čele dvou bailiwiků. Ostrovy nejsou součástí Evropské unie, ale jsou součástí celního území Evropské Unie. Důležitou částí této bakalářské práce jsou vlastní jazyky jerseyština a guernseyština, které jsem analyzovala v běžném užívání, mediální sféře a edukačním systému.

Abstract:

My thesis ?Specifics of the political system of the Channel Islands? focuses on the status of the Channel Islands Jersey and Guernsey. These islands have wide autonomy, administered by the United Kingdom, which since the 13th century committed to militarily protect the Channel Islands and has no right to decide for them at international level. First, I focused basic information about the geography, demography and economy, including the important role of offshore financial centers. History had a great influence on the development of the islands, so I took a closer look on the process and important periods such as the Tudors and the German occupation. The next charter is devoted to the political status of independence that allows islands to create their own laws, exercise governmental and legal power. The Ruler of the United Kingdom elects its representatives, the governors, who are heads of two bailiwicks. The islands aren´t part of the European Union, but it´s part of the Customs territory of the European Union. An important part of this woek are their own languages Jérriais and Guernésiais., which was analyzed in common usage, the media sphere and the educational system.
