Classification and formal adaptation of anglicism in Czech and Serbian in fashion discourse (based on Czech and Serbian Editions of Elle and Cosmopolitan)

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to present the adaptation of English loanwords into Serbian and Czech language in modern discourse and to show the results of the adaptation. At the same time, we examined the similarities and differences in the method of accepting adaptation in Czech and Serbian linguistic environment. In our thesis, we used Contact Linguistics which focuses on the mechanisms of adaptation of loanwords and has been present for a long time in the South Slavonic language studies thanks to Croatian linguist Rudolf Filipovic. For the purpose of comparison with Serbian language, we used the classification system by Pricic and theory of adaptation by Filipovic when analyzing English loanwords in Czech language as well.

Abstract:

Cílem této disertační práce bylo představit adaptaci anglicismů v českém a srbském jazyce v registru módy a poukázat na výsledky adaptace. Zároveň jsme zdůraznili podobnosti a rozdíly ve způsobu přijetí adaptace v českém a srbském lingvistickém prostředí. Disertaci jsme založili na lingvistice jazykových kontaktů, jejímž předmětem je mimo jiné mechanismus přebírání výpůjček a který díky chorvatskému lingvistovi Rudolfu Filipovićovi má dlouhou tradici v jihoslovanském jazykovém prostoru. Prćićův systém klasifikace a Filipovićovu teorii adaptace jsme použili i na anglicismy v českém jazyce pro porovnání tohoto jazykového jevu se srbštinou.
