International football performance pass-through to exchange rate changes

This thesis evaluates the effect of the influence of international football match results on exchange rate changes in a linear regression study using the example of three countries, namely the Czech Republic, Poland and Turkey. The thesis aims to explore the rare found relationships between football clubs’ and national teams’ performance and exchange rates in the selected countries – as there are a lot of studies concerning impact of football performance on a stock market, but not on exchange rates. This narrowed topic was explored mainly by Turkish scientifics and it concerned either Turkey national team or clubs only – this research intends to enlarge this topic by having more countries, thus more data for comparison. Further in the work will be sections of introduction, theoretical part (includes subsections of football and: behavioral economics, stock exchange and exchange rates), data and methodology, country’s cases (linear regression analysis), conclusion, bibliography, list of tables and appendices.
