Work motivation of employees in the public administration organisation

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je zodpovědět otázku: Co motivuje k práci zaměstnance vybrané organizace státní správy? Motivace k práci u zaměstnanců státní správy se dostala do centra zájmu také díky reformě veřejné správy, kdy se v reakci na snahu o zavádění prostředků a technik z oblasti soukromého sektoru do sektoru veřejného řada akademiků začala zabývat tím, co obecně lidi motivuje k práci a zda u nich, napříč jednotlivými sektory, existují nějaké rozdíly. Pozornost je v této práci věnována rovněž motivačnímu systému a tomu, v jaké podobě jej zkoumaná organizace realizuje. Nechybí hodnocení jeho jednotlivých složek z pohledu zaměstnanců organizace. Výzkum byl proveden formou rozhovorů se zaměstnanci vybrané organizace státní správy. Zjistili jsme, že respondenti jsou v zásadě se svou prací spokojeni a k jejímu výkonu motivováni řadou motivů, jež jsou jak intrinsické, tak extrinsické povahy, nicméně hodnocení motivačního systému a jeho jednotlivých složek poukázalo v této oblasti na řadu nedostatků.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to answer the question What motivates employees of the particular state administration organisation to the job performance? Work motivation of employees of the state administration organisation was at the centre of attention because of the public administration reform when, as response to the effort of introduc-tion of means and methods from the private sector to the public sector, many academics began to concern with the question what motivates people to the job performance and if in mentioned sectors exist some differences. In the center of interest of this thesis is also the motivation system and its realization in the particular organisation. The thesis also contains evaluation of its parts from the perspective of employees of the organisation. The survey was carried out in the form of interviews with employees of the particular state administration organisation. We found out that the respondents are basically satisfied with their job and are motivated by many factors both the intrinsic and extrinsic character. However evaluation of the motivation system and its parts proved a deficiency in this area.
