Monitoring of interfraction deviations during the external radiotherapy in patients with breast cancer

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou plánování a zajištění přesnosti zevní radioterapie u pacientek s nádorem prsu. Teoretická část je věnována ve stručnosti nádoru prsu a možnostem terapie. Stěžejní v této práci je radioterapie, především zevní radioterapie karcinomu prsu se zaměřením na její plánování, průběh a sledování přesnosti její aplikace, zejména pomocí kontrolních zobrazovacích systémů. V praktické části zpracovávám interfrakční odchylky, které mohou vznikat v průběhu ozařování. Tato část obsahuje potřebná data získaná na detašovaném pracovišti Kliniky radiační onkologie Masarykova onkologického ústavu ve Fakultní nemocnici u sv. Anny v Brně a jejich vyhodnocení.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issues of planning and estimating the accuracy of the external radiotherapy treatment received by female patients that have been diagnosed with breast tumours. The theoretical part focuses on giving a brief description of breast cancer and possible therapy treatment methods. The main emphasis is on radiotherapy treatment, specifically on external radiotherapy of breast carcinoma focusing on its planning, development and observing the precision of radiotherapy treatments with the usage of a controlled observation system. The practical part includes processing of interfraction deviations that can develop during the radiation treatment. This section contains the necessary data acquired at the Radiation Oncology Clinic at St. Anne’s Hospital in Brno, part of Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, and their evaluation.
