Children's separation anxiety in relation with maternal separation anxiety and maternal overprotection

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou separační úzkosti u dětí a zároveň i u jejich matek a také hyperprotekti-vitou matek. Cílem výzkumu bylo ověřit, zda lze predikovat separační úzkost dítěte prostřednictvím sepa-rační úzkosti matky. Dalším záměrem výzkumu bylo zjistit, jestli separační úzkost matky vztažená v rámci měřícího nástroje přímo k dítěti vysvětlí další část rozptylu skórů separační úzkosti dítěte. Poslední položená hypotéza se vztahovala k potenciálnímu mediátoru vlivu míry separační úzkosti matky na míru separační úzkosti dítěte. Za tento mediátor byla považována hyperprotektivita matky. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 184 re-spondentů, z toho 92 matek (M=39,16 let, SD=4,4) a 92 dětí (M=7,7 let, SD=0,76). Byla provedena vícenásobná regresní analýza, jejíž výsledky však nepotvrdily (p>0,05) míru separační úzkosti matky jakožto prediktor míry separační úzkosti dítěte, ani nevysvětlily další část skórů separační úzkosti dítěte predikované pro-střednictvím separační úzkosti matky vztažené přímo k jejímu dítěti. V důsledku nepřijetí první hypotézy nebylo možné ověřovat mediační hypotézu.

Abstract:

This work deals with separation anxiety in children, as well as maternal separation anxiety and their overprotection. The aim of this study was to verify whether the child separation anxiety can be predicted through the maternal separation anxiety. Another aim of the research was to determine whether maternal separation anxiety that is related directly to the child will explain another part of the variance of separation anxiety child scores. The last hypothesis was related to a potential mediator of the influence of maternal se-paration anxiety to child measure of separation anxiety. Maternal overprotection was considered as a mediator. The research involved 184 respondents, 92 mothers (M = 39.16 years, SD = 4.4) and 92 children (M = 7.7 years, SD = 0.76). A multiple regression analysis was performed. However the results didn`t confirm (p> 0.05) the rate of maternal separation anxiety as a predictor of the child's degree of separation anxiety. They neither explained another part of the child's separation anxiety scores that were predicted through the mater-nal separation anxiety directly related to the child. As a result of not confirming of the first hypothesis, it was not possible to verify the mediation hypothesis.
