The Image of the Doctor in the Narrative Work by Arthur Schnitzler

Abstract:

The Master’s thesis deals with the image of the doctor in the narrative work by Arthur Schnitzler. Arthur Schnitzler was one of the best-known Austrian writers and a member of Young Vienna in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century. This thesis is dedicated to the description of the doctor-characters, the motives of their behaviour and the description of the method of medical treatment in selected novels Dying and Dream Story.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na figuru lékaře ve vybraných prózách Umírání a Snová novela od Arthura Schnitzlera. Arthur Schnitzler patřil k nejznámějším rakouským autorům na přelomu 19. a 20. století. V práci je věnována pozornost především charakteristice jednotlivých postav lékařů, motivů jejich jednání a způsobů ošetřování.
