Physiotherapy management of pubalgia in professional footballers: clinical case.

Abstract:

In this thesis the diagnostic process and physiotherapeutic treatment were discussed, commenting on the results obtained in a patient suffering from pubalgia. The clinical case concerns a 23-year-old professional footballer, who showed painful symptoms in the pubic and inguinal region, which over time intensified during physical activity and partially alleviated with rest. With the diagnosis it was possible to exclude hernias, hip joint pathologies and neurological syndromes as causes of pain. Therefore, the anamesis, an in-depth clinical evaluation and instrumental investigations made it possible to confirm the pubalgia. Therefore, a rehabilitation program was structured based on muscle strengthening exercises, stretching useful for restoring functionality, leading to a return to sporting activity.

Abstract:

In questo lavoro di tesi ? stato argomentato il percorso diagnostico e il trattamento fisioterapico commentando i risultati ottenuti in un paziente affetto da pubalgia. Il caso clinico riguarda un calciatore professionista di 23 anni, il quale ha manifestato sintomatologia dolorosa nella regione pubica e inguinale, che nel tempo si ? intensificato durante l'attivit? fisica e alleviato parzialmente con il riposo. Con la diagnosi ? stato possibile escludere le ernie, patologie articolari dell'anca e sindromi neurologiche, come causa di dolore. Pertanto, l'anamesi, un'approfondita valutazione clinica e indagini strumentali, hanno permesso di confermare la pubalgia. Pertanto ? stato strutturato un programma riabilitativo improntato su esercizi di rinforzo muscolare, stretching utili al ripristino della funzionalit?, improntando un ritorno all'attivit? sportiva.
