Fish and Fish Farming as a Part of Czech National Identity

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje rybí kultuře a rybářské kultuře obecně a jejich zapojení do české národní identity. Kapitoly samostatně diskutují o pojetí identity společně s českou národní identitou; historie rybníků a chovu ryb v českých zemích; české tradice spojené s rybami; spojení s gastronomií a kuchařstvím spolu s účinky místní spotřeby potravin na lidské zdraví. Každá kapitola je podpořena odbornou literaturou. Dotazníková metoda byla použita pro průzkum této práce. Dotazník obsahoval 15 kvantitativních a kvalitativních otázek. Shromážděná data slouží jako podklad o tom, že téma rybí kultury je stále pozitivně vnímaným tématem v rámci České republiky.

Abstract:

The dissertation deals with the fish industry and fish culture in general and their fit within the Czech national identity. Chapters discuss individually the concept of identity together with Czech national identity; the history of ponds and fish farming in the Czech lands; Czech traditions connected to fish; links to gastronomy and culinary together with effects of local food consumption on human health. Each chapter is supported by specialised literature. The method of questionnaire was used for the survey done within this thesis. The questionnaire included 15 quantitative and qualitative questions. Collected data serve as a prove to see that fish culture is still positively accepted topic within the boundaries of the Czech Republic.
