Process-Oriented Modeling and Infrastructure for Remedial Decision Support System

Abstract:

Tato práce popisuje moderní přístupy v oblasti enterprise architektury. Soudobé enterprise architektury tvoří především servisně-orientované architektury spolu s business proces management systémy. Oba tyto hlavní koncepty jsou v práci teoreticky popsány . V rámci společné spolupráce Fakulty informatiky Masarykovy univerzity s americkou agenturou EPA jsem byl požádán, abych navrhl systém pro podporu rozhodování v oblasti dekontaminačních technologií. Návrh tohoto systému má být v souladu s moderními principy komplexní podnikové integrace a business proces managementu pro podporu rozhodování environmentálních vědců v oblasti životního prostředí. Tato problematiky si vyžádala zadefinování nového konceptu v rámci enterprise architektury. Tento koncept kombinuje zásady servisně-orientované architektury a business proces managementu. Tento koncept má jako základní artefakt proces, nikoli službu. Koncept je nazván procesně-orientovaná infrastruktura. V rámci práce byla zadefinována i referenční architektura pro tento koncept. Jelikož neexistuje žádná standardní metodika analýzy a modelování v procesně orientovaném systému, bylo nutné zadefinovaní takovéto metodiky. Výsledkem je metodika nazvaná procesně-orientované modelování a architektura. V rámci této metodiky je popsán postup jak dekomponovat problémovou doménu do business procesů a jak navrhnout procesně-orientovanou infrastrukturu. Koncept procesně-orientované infrastruktury byl aplikován v rámci případové studie projektu Waste Site Energy Management Calculator. Výsledkem je procesně-orientovaná aplikace schopná řešit problematiku dekontaminačních procesů, která je výpočetně značně náročná. Infrastruktura umožňuje distribuovaný běh genetických algoritmů, které počítají parametry pro dekontaminační rovnice.

Abstract:

The work describes modern approach in the Enterprise Architecture problem domain. The modern Enterprise Architecture consists mainly of Service-Oriented Architecture and Business Process Management Suites concepts. Both of them are theoretically described in this work. I was asked to design and develop decision support system for the remedial process during my mutual cooperation with U.S. Environment Protection Agency and Faculty of Informatics Masaryk University. Such system has to comply with modern principles of complex enterprise integration and business process management to support the decision making of environmental scientists. This work introduces a new concept of enterprise architecture, which combines the principles of Service-Oriented Architecture and Business Process Management Suites. This concept is focusing rather on the process as a basic artifact than on the service. It is called Process-Oriented Infrastructure. A reference architecture for this concept is defined in the paper. Since there is no standard methodology of analyzing and modeling the process oriented systems, the next step is defining such a methodology. The result is called Process-Oriented Modeling and Architecture. This approach describes in complexity how to decompose a problem domain into the business processes and how to design an underlying process-oriented infrastructure. Process-oriented infrastructure concept was applied in the case study of Waste Site Energy Management Calculator. It resulted in a business process-oriented application, which is capable of dealing with remedial processes that are computably demanding. The infrastructure enables the run of Genetic Algorithms computing the parameters for the remedial processes.
