Wheelchairs as a Specific Segment of Tourism

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem je zhodnocení současného stavu a úrovně připravenosti pro vozíčkáře ve vybrané destinaci Krkonoše a Podkrkonoší. Dílčím cílem je zjištění nabídky služeb v dané oblasti pro vybraný specifický segment handicapovaných osob vozíčkářů. Druhým dílčím cílem je komparace nabídky vybraných hotelů a informačních center. V rámci naplnění cíle bakalářské práce jsem využíval analýzu primárních a sekundárních zdrojů. Sekundárními zdroji byla především odborná literatura, vědecké články a internet. Nástrojem získání primárních dat se staly expertní rozhovory a dotazníkové šetření. Bakalářská práce analyzuje problematiku hromadných ubytovacích zařízení, která nemají (nebo mají) úpravu přístupu pro vozíčkáře dle zákona a vnímají ji jen pouze jako nařízení a povinnost. Samotný segment vozíčkářů je ale nezajímá a vnímají ho spíše jako zátěž než ekonomický přínos. Pokoje nechtějí pro vozíčkáře přizpůsobit vzhledem k náročným stavebním úpravám a finanční zátěži. Neznají požadavky pro skupinu vozíčkářů dle rozdělených kategorií. Nevědí o možnostech dotací pro zkoumaný segment vozíčkářů. Nevnímají návštěvu vozíčkáře jako ekonomický přínos do svého ubytovacího zařízení.

Abstract:

The main aim is to evaluate the current situation and level of readiness for wheelchair users in the selected destination, the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše). The partial aim is to find out the offer of service in the given area for the selected specific segment of handicapped people, “wheelchair users”. The second partial aim is to compare the offer of selected Information Centres and hotels. In pursuit of the goal of my bachelor thesis I used the analysis of primary and secondary sources. Secondary sources were mainly professional literature, scientific articles and the Internet. Expert interviews and a questionnaire survey became the tool for obtaining primary data. The public collective accommodation facilities have wheelchair access according to the law and they see it only as a regulation and duty. However, the accommodation facilities are not interested in the wheelchair segment itself and they see it as a burden rather than an economic benefit. They do not want their rooms to be adapted for wheelchair users - due to demanding construction works and financial burden. They do not know the requirements of the wheelchair users according to their categories. They do not know about the possibilities of subsidies for the surveyed segment of wheelchair users. They do not see wheelchair visitors as an economic benefit to their accommodation facility.
