Attitudes and knowledge of nurses in the prevention of pressure ulcers

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce bylo zjistit postoje a vědomosti sester o prevenci dekubitů. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 101 sester z Vysokomýtské nemocnice a Hamzovi odborné léčebny pro děti a dospělé. Dotazníkové šetření bylo realizováno (listopad 2015 ? leden 2016) standardizovanými hodnotícími nástroji pro hodnocení postojů v prevenci dekubitů (Attitude towards Pressure ulcer Prevention instrument) a pro posouzení vědomostí o prevenci dekubitů (Pressure ulcer prevention: Knowledge assessment instrument) (Beeckman et al. 2010, Beeckman et al. 2009). Výsledky: Průzkumné šetření ukázalo, že postoje sester v prevenci dekubitů jsou pozitivní. Z celkových 1 313 odpovědí, 1 050 odpovědí svědčilo o pozitivních postojích sester k prevenci dekubitů. Nejlepší postoje měly sestry v oblasti odpovědnosti v prevenci dekubitů. Nejhůře se stavěly k dopadu dekubitů na pacienta. Celkový počet odpovědí v dotazníku zjišťujícího vědomosti bylo 2 626 odpovědí. Správných odpovědí bylo 1 628. Nejlepší znalosti měly sestry v oblasti výživy, nejhorší v oblasti preventivního opatření pro snížení tlaku/smyku. Závěr: Postoje v prevenci dekubitů jsou důležité a ukazují přístup sester k samotné prevenci. Kladné postoje sester k prevenci dekubitů napomáhají zvýšit kvalitu prevence. Nedostatečné vědomosti zapříčiňují špatné provádění prevence a tím snadnější vznik dekubitů.

Abstract:

Objective: The main aim of the thesis was to determine the attitudes and knowledge of nurses about pressure ulcer prevention. Methods: The research sample consisted of 101 nurses from Vysokomýtská nemocnice and Hamzova odborná léčebna pro děti a dospělé. The survey involved (november 2015 ? january 2016) standardized assessment tools for the evaluation of attitudes in the prevention of pressure ulcers (Attitude towards Pressure ulcer Prevention instrument) and the assessment of knowledge about pressure ulcer prevention (Pressure ulcer prevention: Knowledge assessment instrument) (Beeckman et al. 2010, Beeckman et al. 2009). Results: Exploratory investigation showed that the attitudes of nurses in the prevention of pressure ulcers are pozitive. Of total 1 313 responses, 1 050 responses indicated the positive attitude of nurses. Best attitudes nurses in the area of responsibility in the prevention of pressure ulcers. The worst was built on the impact of pressure ulcers on a patient. The total number of responses to the questionnaire finding an understanding was 2 626 responses. Correct answers was 1 628. The best knowledge of nurses in the area of nutrition, the worst in the area of preventive measures to reduce the pressure/shear. Conclusion: Attitudes pressure ulcer prevention are important and show the nurses approach to prevention. Positive attitudes of nurses in the prevention of pressure ulcers to help improve the quality of prevention. Lack of knowledge cause poor implementation of prevention and the easier formation of pressure ulcers.
