Houseplants and their application in the historical development of building interiors

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o pokojových rostlinách a jejich uplatnění v interiérech v historickém kontextu. První část je zaměřena na celkový historický vývoj pokojových květin od počátku do 20 století. Podrobněji je popsáno 19. a zvláště pak 20. století, především období první republiky. Podstatná část práce hovoří o sortimentu pokojových rostlin, jejich uplatnění a o konkrétních nabídkách pokojových rostlin v první polovině 20. století. Dále se práce zabývá harmonogramem prací o dané rostliny v jednotlivých měsících, doplňky pro rostliny v pokojích, pokojovými rostlinami v závislosti na různé teplotě interiérů, způsobem pěstování a celkovou péčí o rostliny. Literární přehled je doplněn obrázky z různých století, kde je patrné uplatnění pokojových rostlin a fotografiemi běžného sortimentu z 20. století. Druhá část práce je zaměřena na praktickou část, a to konkrétně na navržení pokojových rostlin ve vybraném objektu z období první republiky, ve vile Stiassni v Brně. Tato část popisuje vilu a jednotlivé místnosti, kde byly květiny navrhnuty. Dále je zde popsán celý pracovní postup včetně výsledků. Výsledky obsahují samotný návrh a veškerá data, která byla pořízena měřením. Návrh je zhotoven na půdorysech vily, kde je zobrazeno umístění rostlin. Celá praktická část je doprovázena dobovými fotografiemi, akvarely, současnými fotografiemi vily a schématy.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on houseplants and their use in interior in historical context. In the first part its aim to overall historical development to the 20th century. The thesis gives a detailed description of development of houseplants in 19th and 20th century, especially on the period of the First Republic. The main part of the thesis is about range of houseplants and their use. Then there is described the care of houseplants in particular months, accessories for houseplants, houseplants depending on different temperatures in the interior, the way of cultivation and overall care of plants. Literary overview is supplemented by pictures from various centuries, where the use of houseplants and photographs of a common assortment from the 20th century is evident.The second part of the thesis includes practical part, specifically project of houseplants in selected object from the period of First Republic the villa Stiassni in Brno. This part describes its individual rooms where the plants were projected. Then there is described the whole workflow. The results contain the proposal and all of data that were measured. The proposal is based on ground plan of villa with marked location of plants. The whole practical part is supplemented with historical photos, paintings of that period and also the current photos.
