Nursing Care Provided within the Selected Nursing Religious Order

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem poskytování ošetřovatelské péče řeholními sestrami řádu Milosrdných sester sv. Karla Boromejského, které pracují na pozici všeobecná sestra na různých odděleních Nemocnice Milosrdných sester sv. Karla Boromejského v Praze. Teoretická část práce pojednává o řeholním ošetřovatelství z několika aspektů. Nejprve je nastíněn základní vhled do fenoménu řeholního života. Následuje popis nejdůležitějších historických aspektů řeholního ošetřovatelství včetně přehledu jednotlivých ošetřovatelských řádů. Na tento obecný úvod do problematiky řeholního ošetřovatelství navazuje podrobnější popis historie i současnosti Kongregace, zaměření řádu, spiritualita a etické principy služby milosrdných sester. Průzkumná část byla realizována formou kvalitativního šetření za použití techniky polostrukturovaného rozhovoru se sestrami Kongregace Milosrdných sester sv. Karla Boromejského pracujícími na pozici všeobecná sestra v zařízení poskytovatele zdravotní péče, jehož zřizovatelem je Kongregace. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jaká jsou specifika ošetřovatelské péče poskytované řeholními sestrami, dále motivy ke vstupu do ošetřovatelského řádu a doporučení ke zkvalitnění ošetřovatelské péče poskytované řeholními sestrami.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of providing nursing care by the nuns of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo, who work as general nurses in various departments of the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo in Prague. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses religious nursing from several aspects. First, a basic insight into the phenomenon of religious life is outlined. This is followed by a description of the most important historical aspects of religious nursing, including an overview of the various nursing orders. This general introduction to the issue of religious nursing is followed by a more detailed description of the history and present of the Congregation, the focus of the order, spirituality, and the ethical principles of the service of the Sisters of Mercy. The exploratory part was carried out in the form of a qualitative survey using the technique of semi-structured interviews with the Sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo working as general nurses in a hospital, which is run by the Congregation. The aim of the thesis was to find out what the specifics of nursing care provided by religious sisters are, as well as the motives for entering a nursing order and recommendations for improving nursing care provided by religious sisters.
