Role of the HR Department in Managing Technological Change in a Selected Organization

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rolí personálního oddělení při řízení technologické změny. Hlavním cílem práce je posouzení přínosnosti činnosti personálního oddělení zvolené organizace. Pro toto posouzení byl vytvořen teoregický koncept z oblasti řízení a řízení lidských zdrojů v organizaci, který představuje výchozí rámec pro určení role personálního oddělení při řízení změny v organizaci. Zvolená organizace se nachází na počátku implementace změny, a je proto posuzována pouze přípravná část implementace. Zohledněna je tak především tvorba strategie změny v podobě vzdělávání zaměstnanců, posouzení současných podmínek pro realizaci změny a dále možnosti využití vládního vzdělávacího programu. Práce také upzorňuje na hlavní překážky při řízení změny v organizaci a také doporučení, jak těmto bariérám čelit. Výzkumné šetření je evaluační studií, která má za úkol ověřit předpoklady vytvořené v teoretické části. Studie se opírá o empirické poznatky z šetření ve zvolené organizaci, a současně tak upozorňuje na možné nedostatky pro další fázi řízení změny.

Abstract:

The thesis discusses the role of the HR department in managing the technological change. The main objective of the thesis is in assessing the usefulness of activities of the HR department in a selected organization. For the purpose of such assessing, I have created a theoretical concept in the area of change management and HR management in the organization and used it as the initial framework for identifying the role of the HR department in managing the change in the organization. The selected organization stands at the inception of executing the change, thus, only the preliminary stage of execution is being assessed. Attention is therefore paid to developing the change strategy in the form of training the staff, evaluating the existing conditions for the implementation of change, and also the possibility of using the government education programme. The thesis also points to primary obstacles in managing the change in the organization and also presents proposals for countering such barriers. The research is an evaluation study with the goal of verifying the assumptions presented in the theoretical part. The study is based on empirical data collected from the research in the selected organization, and at the same time, it identifies possible shortcomings for the further stage of the change management.
