Doporučená cena vs. tržní cena nehmotných produktů herního průmyslu

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá rozdíl tržních a doporučených cen videoher a efekt, který mají slevy těchto produktů na jejich uživatele. Byla k tomu využita data z databáze Steam DB a ze stránek g2a.com. Ke zpracování těchto dat byly vyžity především metody syntézy, komparace a dedukce. Bylo zjištěno, že rozdíl tržních a doporučených cen videoher se v průměru rovná výši 29,747 %, a že herní žánr, u kterého byl nalezen největší rozdíl byly strategické hry s výší rozdílu 55,52 %. Dále bylo dokázáno, že slevy videoher jako takové mají pozitivní dopad na aktivitu hráčů, a to konkrétně v průměru 8,79 %, ale že mezi výší slevy a zvýšením aktivity hráčů neexistuje ani náznak nějaké přímé úměrnosti. Zdaleka největší dopad na aktivitu hráčů měly slevy v rozsahu (-90 %; -100 %⟩, jelikož v jejich důsledku byla aktivita v průměru zvýšena o 236 %. Efekt který měla tato skupina slev však nebylo možné odůvodnit kvůli nedostatku dat. Zde se nachází příležitost pro navazující výzkum, který by mohl určit, zda je tento jev způsobený například nějakou specifickou demografickou skupinou, či jiným faktorem.

Abstract:

This work analyses the difference between the market price and MSRP of intangible products in the gaming industry and the effect that discounts of these products have on their users. The data used to achieve this was gathered from the Steam DB and the website g2a.com. This data was then processed using mainly the scientific techniques of synthesis, comparison, and deduction. One of the main findings of this work was that the market price of videogames was on average 29.747 % lower than their respective MSRPs and that the game genre, where this difference was most significant was found to be the strategy genre with a difference of 55.52 %. Another key finding of this work was the fact that videogame discounts in general have a positive impact on player activity, to be specific, an average increase of 8.79 %. However, it was also found, that the increase in activity does not proportionally follow the rate of the applied discounts. By far the range of discounts that had the greatest impact on player activity were discounts in the range of (-90 %; -100 %⟩, since they caused an increase of roughly 236 %. Unfortunately, it was not possible to give reasoning as to why this may be due to the lack of relevant data. This offers an opportunity for subsequent research that could explain this major increase in player activity, whether it is caused by some specific demographic or another deciding factor.
