Automatic detection of objects in the track from the recording

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou bezpečnosti interakce mezi tramvají a~člověkem. Střety tramvaje s člověkem nebo tramvaje s vozem jsou stále časté, protože tramvaje se vyskytují v městském a~často zalidněném prostředí. Vzhledem ke značné hmotnosti a~rychlosti tramvají dochází po~střetu tramvaje s chodcem k lehkým a~vážným, někdy však i~smrtelným následkům. Tato práce se zabývá touto problematikou z hlediska návrhu řešení prostřednictvím digitálního zpracování obrazu s využitím metod hlubokého učení a~umělé inteligence. Řeší se tři hlavní úlohy: automatická segmentace scény, detekce objektů a~odhad vzdálenosti detekovaných objektů od segmentované koleje. Konečným cílem bylo vytvořit systém sestávající z těchto funkcí, který odhaduje vzdálenost objektu od koleje a~klasifikuje kritičnost každého objektu podle této vzdálenosti. Tento systém je představen v této práci. Využívá výstupy segmentace pro~odhad kritických oblastí kolem koleje a~výstupy detekce pro lokalizaci objektů. Navržený The~Distance Assessor dále klasifikuje každý detekovaný objekt podle vzdálenosti od koleje a~výsledek přehledně vizualizuje.

Abstract:

The problem of~a~tram-human interaction safety is addressed in~this thesis. Tram-human or~tram-car collisions remain frequent because trams operate in~an urban and~often populated environment. Due to~the~trams significant mass and~speed, after the~collision of~a~tram and~pedestrian, consequences are minor and~serious, but~sometimes even fatal. This thesis addresses the~issue from the~perspective of~designing a~solution through the~digital processing of~images with the~use of~deep earning methods and~artificial intelligence. Three major tasks are tackled: the~automatic scene segmentation, object detection, and~estimation of~the~distance of~detected objects from the~segmented track. The~ultimate goal was to~build a~pipeline consisting of~these functionalities, that~estimates the~object to~rail distance and~classifies the~criticality of~each object according to~this distance. This pipeline is presented in~the~thesis. It~utilizes the~segmentation outputs for~the~rail critical areas estimation and~detection outputs for~objects localization. The~designed Distance Assessor further classifies each detected object according to~the~distance from~the~track and~clearly visualizes the~result.
