Quality of life of patients with depression

Abstract:

Úvod: Problematika deprese je stále více aktuální téma. Statistiky uvádějí, že počet lidí s depresí neustále roste. Deprese má však negativní dopad na život člověka, jelikož ovlivňuje jeho kvalitu, ale také zdraví a určité životní oblasti. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá kvalitou života depresivních pacientů. Teoretická část popisuje poznatky z této oblasti. Praktická část zjišťuje vliv deprese na pacientův život. Cíl práce: Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, jaký má deprese vliv na kvalitu života pacientů. Také bylo stanoveno pět dílčích cílů, jejichž úkolem bylo zjistit, jak pacienti trpící depresí subjektivně hodnotí kvalitu svého života a zdraví, svůj fyzický stav, prožívání, nezávislost a sociální vztahy. Metodika: Byla použita kvantitativní metoda sběru dat pomocí dotazníku, který obsahoval vybrané otázky ze standardizovaného dotazníku WHOQOL-100 od Světové zdravotnické organizace. Průzkumné šetření probíhalo na psychiatrickém lůžkovém oddělení a v psychiatrických ambulancích. Kritériem byl věk od 18 let a diagnostikovaná deprese u specialisty - psychiatra. Výsledky: Průzkumem se potvrdilo, že má deprese nepříznivý vliv na kvalitu života a zdraví, ale také na většinu životních oblastí. Celková kvalita života byla respondenty vyhodnocena jako "ani špatná ani dobrá". Výsledky mimo jiné ukázaly, že deprese nejvíce negativně ovlivňuje oblast fyzického stavu, nejméně ovlivňuje oblast sociálních vztahů. Na základě toho byla navrhnuta doporučení pro praxi. Závěr: Vliv deprese na život může být u mnoho pacientů velmi velký. Postiženým tak deprese značně ztěžuje život. Proto by pacientům s depresivní poruchou měla být věnována dostatečná pozornost, aby mohlo dojít ke zlepšení jejich kvality života a celkového zdravotního stavu.

Abstract:

Introduction: The issue of depression is an increasingly topical issue. Statistics show that number of people with depression is constantly increasing. However, depression has a negative impact on a person´s life, as it affects their quality, but also health and certain areas of life. This bachelor thesis deals with the quality of life of depressed patients. The theoretical part describes findings from this area. The practical part examines the impact od depression on the patient´s life. Objective: The main goal was to find out what effect depression has on the patients´ quality of life. There were also determined five partial goals, and their task was to find out, how patients suffering from depression subjectlively evaluate their quality of life and health, their physical condition, experience, independence and social relationships. Methodology: There was used a quantitative method of data collection using a questionnaire, which included selected questions from the standardized WHOQOL-100 questionnaire from the World Health Organization. The investigation took place in a psychiatric inpatient ward and in psychiatric outpatient clinics. The criterion was age from 18 years and depression diagnosed byl a specialist - psychiatrist. Results: The survey confirmed that depression has an adverse effect on quality of life and health, but also on most areas of life. The overall quality of life was evaluated by the respondents as "neither bad nor good". The results showed, among other things, that depression most negatively affects the area of physical condition, and least affects the area of social relationships. Based on this, recommendations for practice were proposed. Conclusion: The impact of depression on the life of many patients can be very large. Thus, depression greatly complicates life for those affected. Therefore, patients with a depressive disorder should be given sufficient attention in order to improve their quality of life and overall health.
