Transgressive constructions in the function of proverbial determinant in modern Russian and ways of their translation into German

Abstract:

This academic dissertation investigates a problem in the comparative grammar of Russian and German: namely, the use of transitive constructions as proverbial determinants in Russian, and how they can best be translated into German. The thesis has three basic aims: (1) to isolate transitive constructions used as proverbial determinants, (2) to ascertain the best ways to translate them into German, (3) and to compare the German constructions which express the meaning of transitive determinants with the corresponding constructions in Russian. For the purpose of illustration, we have used translations of Russian 20th-century fiction into German and vice versa.

Abstract:

Disertační práce se věnuje zkoumání zvláštní problematiky srovnávací gramatiky ruského a německého jazyka, a sice používání přechodníkových konstrukcí ve funkci adverbiálního determinantu v ruském jazyce a způsoby jejich překládání do německého jazyka. Práce se zaměřuje na tři základní cíle, a to (1) vyčlenění přechodníkových konstrukcí, které se užívají ve funkci adverbiálního determinantu, (2) zjištění, jakými způsoby se překládají do němčiny, (3) srovnání německých konstrukcí, s jejichž pomocí se vyjadřují významy přechodníkových determinantů, se synonymními konstrukcemi v ruštině. Jako názorný materiál byly použity překlady děl umělecké literatury 20. století z ruštiny do němčiny a naopak.
