The optimization of warehouses location – case study

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je případovou studií, která se zabývá analýzou umístění skladů a následnou optimalizací jejich rozmístění v distribuční síti firmy X. Cílem je nalézt nákladově optimální řešení při splnění všech požadavků a omezujících podmínek, a také porovnat situaci při využívání jednoho resp. dvou vozidel. Nejprve je provedena ABC analýza a podle zákazníků typu A jsou optimalizována umístění skladů a rozvozy k jednotlivým zákazníkům. Hlavní metodikou práce je operační výzkum a optimalizace je provedena pomocí převedení reálného problému na úlohu lineárního programování. Jedná se o modifikovanou úlohu rozmístění zařízení se specifickými požadavky. V práci jsou rozebrány podobné typy úloh a optimalizační software, který je možné použít pro nalezení řešení. Ve studii je také aplikována metoda těžiště a její modifikace pro nalezení více než jednoho bodu. Následně jsou výsledky obou metod porovnány. Výsledky studie poslouží pro další rozhodování firmy X.

Abstract:

This thesis is a case study, that analyzes the location of warehouses and also optimizes the placement of warehouses in the distribution network of a given company. The aim of this thesis is to find a cost-optimal solution in fulfillment of all the requirements under given limiting conditions and to compare the situation with the use of one and two vehicles. First, the ABC analysis is done and the optimization of the warehouses locations and the delivery to each customer is based on the A type customers. The main methodology of the thesis is an operational research and the optimization is done by converting the real problem to a linear programming model. This is a modified facility location problem with specific requirements. The thesis handles with similar types of problems and also with an optimization software, which can be used to solve these types of problems. The center of gravity method and its modification for finding more than one point is also applied in this study and the results of both methods are compared. The results of the study will serve for further decision making by a company X.Key words: Linear programming, facility location problem, center of gravity method, supply chain management.
