Preparation of Children for Leaving the Children's Home

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou přípravy dětí na odchod z dětského domova do samostatného života po dosažení zletilosti. Cílem práce je najít odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jak připravují vybrané dětské domovy v Olomouckém kraji děti na odchod ze zařízení po dosažení zletilosti?“ Teoretická část práce se věnuje přiblížení systému náhradní výchovy v České republice a životu v dětském domově. Je vymezena také charakteristika jedince v období zletilosti se všemi specifiky, které dlouhodobý pobyt v ústavním zařízení přináší. Teoretickou část uzavírá kapitola zabývající se odchodem mladých lidí z dětského domova po dosažení zletilosti, obtížemi, se kterými se setkává a projekty, které se snaží těmto jedincům v počátku samostatného života pomoci. Empirická část práce se věnuje vlastnímu kvalitativnímu výzkumu. Ten kombinoval dvě techniky sběru dat, a to polostandardizovaný rozhovor a analýzu dokumentů. Metodologická část práce dále představuje metodu a desing výzkumu, výběr výzkumného vzorku, taktéž je část věnována limitům výzkumu a etickým aspektům. V další části práce jsou interpretována data, která jsou v závěru shrnuta, doplněna o zodpovězení hlavní i dílčí výzkumné otázky a doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the problem of preparation of children for leaving the children´s home to independent life after reaching the age of majority. The main objective is to answer the main research question: „How to prepare selected children´s homes in the Olomouc region children to leave after reaching the age of majority?“ The theoretical part deals with the system of substitute care in the Czech Republic and living in children´s home. It also describes the characteristics of an individuals in the age of majority with all the specifics that a long-term stay in the institutional care brings. The end of theoretical part deals with the departure of young people from children´s home to independent life. It also deals with projects that try to support young people at the beginning of their independent life. The empirical part presents own qualitative research. This research combined the two techniques of data collection, semi-structured interview and analysis of documents. The methodological part also provides a method and design of research, selection of the research sample, there are also devoted to the priorities and limits of the research and ethical aspects. In the next part there are interpreted the data, which are summarized in the end, complemented by answering the main and minor research questions and there are also recommendations for practice.
