Czech Comis in 1948-1990: Comics in the straightjacket of ideology

Abstract:

Ústředním tématem této magisterské diplomové práce je vývoj komiksového žánru ve vztahu k politické ideologii v českém prostředí mezi léty 1948 až 1989. Především se zaměřuje na námětovou typologii s ohledem na dobovou společensko-politickou situaci. Současně také mapuje tematické a výtvarné možnosti prostřednictvím ikonických děl a stylů. V souvislosti s tímto vývojem komiksového žánru v českém prostředí je nasnadě i sledování jeho postupné proměny z hlediska uměleckých forem.

Abstract:

The main theme of this master thesis is the development of the comic genre in relation to political ideology in the Czech region between 1948 and 1989. It focuses in first place on theme typology with regard to socio-political situation during mentioned time period. At the same time it maps thematic and artistic possibilities through iconic works and styles. In connection with this development of comic genre it also offers possibility to follow its gradual transformation in terms of art forms.
