Influence of individualism on housing of young generation

Abstract:

Ústředním tématem bakalářské práce je novodobý fenomén individualismu a jeho vliv na bydlení a soužití mladé generace. Konceptuální část vymezuje individualismus za pomoci několika teorií, jež se soustředí zejména na ty rysy tohoto jevu, které mají vliv na současnou transformaci rodinných a partnerských vztahů a na jejich uspořádání. Analytická část, jež se opírá o data ze souborů Bydlení mladé generace 2003 a Biografický výzkum mladé generace 2002, se poté zaměřuje na některé z hodnotových orientací současné mladé generace, zkoumá názory na jednotlivé typy soužití a objasňuje motivy volby manželství či nesezdaného soužití. Snaží se také zodpovědět otázku legitimity kohabitace, tedy jestli dnes nesezdané soužití funguje jako plnohodnotná alternativa k manželství. V poslední části se práce zabývá porovnáním stability nesezdaných soužití a manželských svazků. Z šetření dat se ukázalo, že nesezdaná soužití prozatím netvoří trvalou alternativu manželského svazku. Kohabitace pro většinu mladých párů představuje spíše jakousi „zkoušku manželství“ či „vyšší fázi chození“. Dále bylo zjištěno, že nejčastějším důvodem k výběru nesezdaného soužití je zkouška společného života, prozatímní nepřítomnost dítěte a chuť užívat si života bez závazků. Nakonec byla potvrzena i menší stabilita nesezdaných soužití ve srovnání s manželským svazkem.

Abstract:

The central theme of the bachelor´s thesis is a modern phenomenon of individualism and the effect it has on habitation and common life of the young generation. The conceptual part defines individualism by means of a number of theories that concentrate particularly on those features of this phenomenon that shape the present-day transformation of relationships within the family and the cohabitation, as well as their arrangement. The analytical part, which relies on the databases called Living of the Young Generation 2003 and Biographical Research of the Young Generation 2002, then focuses on some values that the young generation tends to gravitate to, it surveys selected views of the individual types of the common life and clarifies the reasons for either marriage or cohabitation. It also tries to answer the question of legitimity of cohabitation, that is, whether today´s partnership of singles works as a fully fledged alternative to marriage. In its final part a comparison is made between the stability of married and unmarried couples. Research found out, that unmarried couples are not a permanent alternative of marriage meanwhile. Cohabitation is for most young couples something like “test of marriage” or “higher level of dating”. Next, the main reason why the couples decided to chosen of cohabitation were: test of common life, absence of children and desire to enjoy the life without commitment. In the end was confirmed the lower stability of cohabitation compare to marriage.
